Flying Dogs Canada

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. Life’s not about how hard of a hit you can give it’s about how many you can take, and still keep moving forward.” Rocky Balboa
FDC’s Rocky already had his share of tough times before coming to the shelter. His short life likely started on the streets and was hard, and full of suffering. However, Rocky has a fighters spirit with a heart that matches his giant stature. Rocky was brought to our attention by Yohana, the wonderful nurse that assists Dr. Julio. Someone had shown a photo to her of Rocky and she asked FDC to help him. Rocky looked much like a big, friendly, “rare” pork chop when FDC volunteers first saw him. He was bleeding in spots all over his body and had thick, grey patches of skin from a terrible case of scartroptic mange. Rocky was quarantined, treated with medication and made an unbelievable comeback! He has been cured of his mange and is looking quite handsome now.
Rocky is thought to be just over a year old and is a bull mastiff mix. He is the biggest dog currently at the shelter but this gentle giant is just a big baby. He loves all people and is very friendly with all his doggy pals. He loves being part of all the activity going on at the shelter and does not like to be crated if the other dogs are out running around. This slight separation anxiety is likely because he is finally being cared for. Rocky is happiest when getting attention from people and having fun with the other dogs. He especially loves men and has become good friends with the teenage boys who work at the shelter. He enjoys sleeping in beds, although volunteer Sara found out the hard way that one of his vices is humpi… um ”cuddling” a bit too much sometimes!
Rocky is working on his manners as well as house training. He absolutely loves going for walks and definitely enjoys his consistent meals. He really would love to be part of an active family that have time to spend with him. Rocky is sweet and friendly and would be happy in a family that already has a dog (preferably female) that is similar in size.
